Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the structural features of compound words in German. The subject of the study is compound words selected by the continuous sampling method from the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, which belong to various thematic headings. The most frequent structural models of composites, which make up the majority of the German vocabulary, and the frequency components of composites, including borrowed elements, have been identified. The results obtained confirm the trends of modern German word formation.
