The article reveals the theoretical foundations of the translation of youth slang vocabulary in the German novel and the use of translation transformations as a means of achieving the set translation objectives. The definitions of terms “slang” and “youth slang” are considered. In the empirical partof the article, the features of translation of youth slang vocabulary in A. Goetz's novel “Die Quietly, my Angel” from German into Russian are identified and difficulties of translation of youth slang vocabulary from German language into Russian in this novel are revealed.
