On the metaphoric nature of technomorphic ornithonyms

Abstract

The article examines the nature of the metaphorical transfer, resulting in the formation of technical zoonyms. The research is based on ornithonyms that undergo technomorphization. It is noted that the metaphorical transfer based on somatic and ethological bird characteristics is the main mechanism of technomorphization of the given lexical units and their derivatives. The research shows that the influence of the natural world upon the technoworld is possible due to the action of ecological archetypes.
