Abstract


Proper names are an integral part of any fictional work. With the development of animation, the problem of translation proper names from one language to another, taking into account all the factors affecting the perception of recipients of the host culture, becomes relevant. The article is devoted to various ways of implementing pragmatic adaptation of proper names, the purpose of which is to preserve the desired effect in the target language. The article examines the key concepts of modern translation studies “pragmatic adaptation”, “culture-specific vocabulary”, “proper name”, cites the author's definitions of Russian researchers of the concepts “transcription”, “transliteration”, “calquing”, “concretization”, “generalization”, “modulation”.
