About politeness strategies in terms of protecting the addressee’s negative face

Abstract

The article touches upon the peculiarities of negative politeness in communication. The most common speech acts that threaten the negative face of addressee are analyzed, such as: requests, suggestions, orders. On the examples from modern fiction the most frequently used negative politeness strategies are examined: indirect structures, polite address forms and others.
