Abstract

The article deals with the problem of actual division of the sentence when translating from English into Russian. The relevance of the investigation lies in the lack of theoretical research of the topic in the translation paradigm. For the purpose of our research the works of V. V. Nabokov and their translations into Russian, made by V. V. Nabokov and G. Barabtarlo were analyzed. It turned out that the most frequent sentence structure is the one where the formal-grammatical division coincides with the actual, and the theme and the rheme are in a state of communicative equilibrium.
