Abstract

This article identifies and analyzes the linguistic means of indirect communication used in German popular science media texts on engineering and technology, revealing the achievements of German designers and engineers in the history of automobile development. It is established that linguistic phenomena, used to adapt complex knowledge, popularize it, and retain the attention of potential readers through a compelling narrative, include lexical and stylistic means (chronological markers, commonly used terminology, exact dates, literary-elevated paraphrases, comparisons, various types of metaphors, personification, irony), stylistic syntactic devices (violation of the frame structure, detached appositions, parenthetical constructions), as well as minimization of the syntactic pattern of the text.
