Abstract

The article is devoted to a typology of the one-member verb clause in contrasted languages. The research is conducted by means of the typological method on a data base of a set of European languages such as Russian, Polish, English, German, French, Spanish. The method of research makes it possible to contrast equivalent structures of individual languages in order to establish cross-linguistic common and distinctive features. These equivalent structures represent verb sentences of various types, subtypes and models within each subtype representing an invariant language etalon for the selected set of languages. The metalanguage of this research includes several etalons each related to a certain type; thus, each etalon affords to qualify a difference between some ideal type and its realization in the languages of contrast. Unlike metalanguage which has a deductive origin independent of concrete tongues, a language etalon is built up inductively and depends on linguistic data.
