Abstract

The article discusses verbal and multimodal strategies for shaping the image of a criminal in audio and video podcasts of the true-crime genre using the example of four issues about the case of Alexander Spesivtsev. The study showed that the podcast format acts as a significant discourse-forming factor determining the choice of representation strategies: video podcasts tend to documentary authenticity and analytical distance due to visual archivistics, while audio podcasts create the effect of a personal dialogue, enhancing the emotional involvement of the listener.
