Abstract

This work describes the course and results of the study of the specifics of the FRIEND concept in the context of fairy-tale discourse. The article examines the boundaries of the fairy-tale genre and its relationship with the fantasy genre, as well as the methodology for constructing the nominative field of the FRIEND concept. The definitions of the FRIEND concept from English-language dictionaries were used as the empirical material for the definitional analysis. The novel "Uprooted" by Naomi Novik was used as the basis for the contextual analysis.
