Abstract


The article addresses the relevant problem of studying texts of judicial decisions of the so-called "higher courts" of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Of particular importance in this regard is discourse analysis of the legal concept verbalization “*judgment/судебное решение“ in English and Russian. The authors do substantiate the need to settle the issue by virtue of comparative verbalization analysis. In the article, within the framework of the problem statement, a theoretical study apparatus is analysed, legal specifics and court decisions discourse are clarified, aspects of legal English translation are considered, in particular, the equivalencу of legal terminology translation. The authors also examine some options for verbalization of the legal concept in English and Russian as an empirical study of the problem. In conclusion, the authors summarize findings from their research related to the specific features of the legal concept verbalization and offer their own translation alternatives to specific оriginal terms applied by the UK courts.
