Abstract
Toponyms (names of states and their capitals, continents, regions of countries, megacities, reservoirs, etc.) form the largest class of proper names with a number of structural, grammatical and semantic features. The subject of this article is the analysis of the word-formation structure of toponyms, namely, which lexical and grammatical categories of nouns and adjectives are involved in their formation.
