Semantic transformation of toponyms: from the sign of a geographical object to the sign-symbol

Abstract
The semantic of toponyms is considered in the cognitive aspect and defined as a complex of knowledge elements, which the native speaker has about the nomination object. The specifics of the toponym semantic lies in its close dependence on the extra linguistic factors, that form individualizing and evaluative semantic elements.
