Abstract

Modern linguistics has included in the object of its research various paratextual elements accompanying the creation of an artistic work. Paratext components have a serious impact on such categories of text as coherence and integrity in the transmission of information. Thanks to them, the substantial and structural side of the novel is complemented, its informational potential is enhanced. The paratext, or “near-text” (M. M. Bakhtin), environment consists of such elements as a title, dedication, preface, etc., creating a pre-text space. The authors of modern French novels actively turn to various paratext techniques that allow them to demonstrate their pragmatic orientation and create an individual style of the work. They are constantly present in the work of the famous French science fiction writer B. Werber, who expands the semantic space of his novel with the help of such elements as the title, dedication and preface.
