Abstract

The processes of lexicalization and idiomatization of prefixed verbal derivatives and the articulation of semantics specified by these processes are studied in the aspect of the cognitive approach to understanding of the language and its categories. Word-building units are considered as the result of the objectification of some knowledge about the fragment of the world, which has the form of a propositional structure. Lexicalization and ideomatization of the semantics of derived units is described as being directly dependent on changes in the propositional structure: metaphorical rethinking of actants and its reduction.
