The article considers the main difficulties of a pun translation in children’s fairy tales from English into Russian. Particular attention is paid to the classification of V. N. Komissarov, where three main categories are distinguished: lexical, grammatical, lexico-grammatical transformations. The study revealed that the most effective way to translate a pun in children’s fairy tales is the use of lexical and grammatical transformations, in particular, compensation, which is often used when there are elements in the source language that cannot be transferred to the target language.
