Wordplay has been an object of interest for scholars in this country and abroad for over decades. We consider wordplay as a means of self-expression of a personality. Subsequently, we can analyze wordplay in TV series as cases of linguistic creativity of their characters. For the present article we selected examples of wordplay from British and American TV series of the last decade. Our empiric material gives ground to conclude that wordplay is used to create character portrayal as well as manifest the emotional state of characters in the context of the events taking place on the screen.
