Abstract

In the history of the social-estate structure of the Russian peasantry in the 17-19th centuries. the problem of the estate status of the Bashkir people is highlighted. The status of the Bashkirs was determined by two factors: the stubborn resistance of the people to the policy of the supreme power to turn into a taxable population and the interest of the state in their military service. After the transfer of the southeastern border of Russia deep into the territory of Central Asia in the middle of the 19th century, the Bashkirs were transferred to the tax class and equated with the main part of the Russian peasantry.
