Abstract
The article offers a review of various scientific paradigms underlying the study of oil and gas terminology in English. The author focuses on comparative analysis of traditional paradigms exemplified by the lexicographic approach and modern conceptions of terminological systems which are developed within the framework of anthropocentric line of research.
