Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the features of the formation of ethnonyms and katoikonyms in the English language. The article presents the results of the quantitative analysis of ethnonyms and katoikonyms formed by morphological derivation. The material of the research is the list of geographical names of the world, given in the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, as well as the list of names of residents of large cities in the United States and Great Britain.
