Abstract
The article is devoted to the hermeneutic approach to translating literary texts. As an example of this approach George Steiner’s “hermeneutic motion theory” is considered in comparison with the modified hermeneutic model of literary text translation based on the concept of “hermeneutic circle” in which the authors develop definite stages of translator’s activity while interpreting and translating works of literature.
