Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of translation transformations in the transfer of means of expressiveness in the Russian translation of Frank Thilliez's novel “Puzzle”. 89 examples of lexical tropes in the original language and the target language have been an- alyzed, and the most and least frequent ones have been identified based on quantitative analysis. The article establishes the methods and techniques of translating the analyzed tropes from French to Russian, including modulation, explication, addition, and others.
