Abstract
This article examines the concept of “nationally determined vocabulary” and identifies strategies for translating these lexical units into Russian in Louisa May Alcott's novel “Little Men.” Scholarly works on the specifics of literary translation are reviewed, and the relevance of this study is substantiated. The main strategies for translating nationally determined vocabulary in the text under study are outlined.
