Linguocultural focus of the Department of Tatar Philology and Culture of Ufa University of Science and Technology

This article systematically presents for the first time the history of the Department of Tatar Philology and Culture at Ufa State University of Science and Technology, with an emphasis on its role as a scientific and educational center for the Tatars of Bashkortostan. The continuity between the traditions of madrasahs of the 19th–20th centuries, higher education institutions, research institutes of Tatarstan, and the modern scientific school of the department has been identified. A complex of research methods is described, combining historical and cultural analysis with current linguistic and literary approaches. An analysis of the contribution of the department's graduates to the development of the national culture, education, and science of the region is presented.
