Abstract
In the article, the authors consider the image of the horse Kara-yurga, the bride kidnapper, and find parallels in the mythology of the peoples of Eurasia. The presence of a connection between the Kara-Yurga and the centaur Nessa and the Balkan Neoptolem is possible. Mythological, folklore and ethnographic materials are confirmed in the archaeological materials of the Middle Volga of the 8-9th centuries: the Bolshetigansky burial ground and the Shilovsky burial mound.
