Abstract

The article discusses the modern state of ecolinguistics which was brought about as a result of greening of scientific knowledge. The necessity of the study of the natural world as a branch within such an interdisciplinary trend from both ecological and linguistic perspectives is justified. The object, subjects and research methods are characterized. Besides, the functions that linguistics of the natural world is designed to perform are specified.
