Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the semantics of emotive units with the meaning of fear in the Russian language of the XV-XVII centuries. It is established that the semantic development of these units was determined by the action of a number of laws: 1) syncretic expression of boundary values, in particular static and qualificative, static and causative, etc.; 2) differentiated designation of various aspects of emotions (degree of intensity, duration, external expression); 3) figurative description of emotions using models of metaphorical and metonymic transfer such as “emotion - a material object”, “emotion - a living being”, etc.
