Abstract

The article examines the problem of feminitives in Russian and French and analyzes their use by Russian- and French-speaking audiences of one of the social networks in order to evaluate the use of this stratum of vocabulary in the live speech of Internet users. The predominance of masculine words to denote women by profession has been considered in the last decades as one of the signs of androcentrism of the languages under study, which should be eliminated as one of the components of discrimination against women in the language. How much have the efforts of linguists and politicians affected the frequency of using feminitiatives in the speech of ordinary speakers?
