Abstract


The article considers indirect communication from the perspective of pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, cognitive linguistics and ludic theory. Within the framework of diverse approaches presented, indirect communication is regarded as a universal strategy acting as means of negative and positive politeness, rational communicational strategy realized in the context of uncertain outcome, hedging and manipulative strategy and a creative tool of ludic communication.
