Abstract

The Mining Department was headed by the geological service until 80th of XIX century in Russia. He presided over the factories and ancillary facilities, organized training. Scientists took 20 years to achieve the creation of the country’s geological research institution in 1882. For the first 16 years of the Geological Committee held a survey an area of 6 million km2. A number of new scientific publications appeared, which published the main achievements of the geologists of the time, and Russia has managed to occupy a worthy place among the countries with the developed geological service.
