Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of linguistic universals, namely semantic universals in the vocabulary, the least elaborated subject in typology. It is expedient to conduct contrastive studies in the lexicon on the basis of analyzing taxonomic characteristics of the seme as a metalinguistic unit, such as taxonomic depth, width, continuity and seme representation.
